In 1999, I moved to the BBC News bureau in Moscow where I covered wars in Chechnya, Afghanistan post 9/11 and was embedded with British troops in Iraq during the 2003 invasion. I returned to London in May 2003 and after a short stint with foreign news I joined BBC 2’s ‘Newsnight’.  During the next seven years I covered a wide variety of stories; from the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival and celebrity interviews with the likes of George Clooney, Russell Brand and Simon Cowell to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, riots in Greece and numerous military embeds in Afghanistan and Iraq.

I have also worked on BBC1’s ‘Panorama’.  In 2004 I filmed a programme in Russia about the survivors of the Beslan School siege and in 2010  I worked as an Assistant Producer on a film about the funding of elderly care, presented by Dame Joan Bakewell.

Since 2011, I have been back in my spiritual home working for the BBC’s Network News output both at home and abroad. I also film and edit for the BBC1 programme 'The Editors'. Recent experiences include filming the build up to Sir Ranulph Fiennes ‘The Coldest Journey’ expedition and a ‘World Olympic Dreams’ documentary with Sir Matthew Pinsent in Afghanistan where I had to quickly switch into News mode when the Taliban launched a huge attack on Kabul.

In December 2013, I won the Panalux Craft award at the prestigious Women in Film and Television Awards. It was in recognition of 25 years working in the mostly male-dominated field of TV News shooting and editing.

In November 2014, I became a FCP X Editing Trainer at BBC News. This is in addition to my continuing role as a shoot/edit camera crew.

I joined BBC North West in 1988 as an assistant film editor on Brass Tacks, ‘Rough Guide’ travel series and ‘Reportage’.  In 1991, I moved to the News dept in Television Centre, London were I edited packages for national news and current affairs. I started camerawork in 1993 with assignments in Bosnia and Northern Ireland. In 1997 I joined the BBC’s Business bureau in New York and travelled all over the USA with correspondents Richard Quest and Paddy O’Connell.
